"a well-known male Japanese actor in his late 40s to late 50s who speaks English" to come on board as a mysterious character named "Moreau".Now, before you say Francois Chau (aka Marvin Candle from the Dharma videos on LOST) - he is Cambodian, not Japanese. Although, that didn't stop him from playing the head of Chinatown in The Chicago Code (also on FOX...)
However, in my opinion, I think it would be great to get Ken Watanabe. He played Mr. Saito in Inception, and of course costarred with Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai. He's Japanese, and the right age (51).
Who do you think should play "Moreau"?
Another good option, would be Hiroyuki Sanada, who played Dogen in the final season of LOST. He is also Japanese and 51. Coincidence?

Hiro Sanada! He played Dogen wonderfully in LOST so I think it would be awesome to see him in Fringe.
ReplyDeleteDo we know if this role is recurring or just a one-stint guest role?
The debut of the first people?
ReplyDeleteHaha Francois Chau was my first thought.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't they pick Marion Cotillard, she's not japonese but she might be great in Fringe.
ReplyDeleteBecause they are looking for a 50yo Japanese Man, not a 35yo French Woman :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame Masi Oka(Hiro in "Heroes")isn't old enough for the role.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I really liked Francois Chau on Lost, I think it would be super cool if Watanabe Ken could join the cast of Fringe. I have an issue with casting actual Japanese people as Japanese characters. I'd like for Fringe to keep that realism true.
ReplyDeleteThanks SuperTim, I added your suggestion to the post!
ReplyDeleteJJ Abrams is in good with the Star Trek folk, maybe they could get George Takei :)
ReplyDeleteOH MY! George Takei would totally f-ing RULE!
ReplyDeletePLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! *crosses fingers*
oh, Ken watanabe would be fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWhy would they give a Japanese character a French name? I hate when they do that!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that you mention that, since the first person I mentioned is Francois Chau...
ReplyDeleteThat's may not be the actual name used in the show, it could just be a placeholder.
Ken Watanabe
ReplyDeleteMark Dacascos. I know, he's from Hawaii. But I would just scream!
ReplyDeleteIt would be awesome and hilarious if they got George Takei and wrote an episode where this Moreau character meets William Bell. However, if they need someone with scruffy looks, my money's on Ken Watanabe.=)
